Curcumin analogs showing anti-tumor activity: T20-2761

Curcumin, found in spices, is known to have various activities including anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-heart failure, antibacterial, and radiation protective effects. The inventor has successfully developed curcumin derivatives (such as GO-Y-030) that enhance anti-tumor activity, but there has been a challenge due to their low water solubility and inability to improve bioavailability. In this invention, the inventor developed curcumin derivatives (such as GO-Y-199) with a thiol group introduced into the side chain, addressing the aforementioned challenges. The compounds disclosed in this invention exhibit inhibitory effects on NF-κB, pSTAT3, β-catenin, and fatty acid synthase. Furthermore, experiments using mice with subcutaneously implanted tumors from HCT116 cells demonstrated anti-tumor activity without causing adverse effects such as weight loss. Additionally, experiments using mice with MSTO-211H cells implanted in the abdominal cavity also showed anti-tumor activity.
